So today, June 4th, booked Nayeli for a day trip down to Tijuana. I thought there might be some that want to know about visiting TJ during this pandemic. I crossed over using the pedestrian crossing and there was literally no line. So, breezed right up to the Mexican permit counter, the senorita asked where I was going (NOT the purpose of my visit) and filled out the paperwork for me. Then I passed by a guy that quickly took my temperature and I was on my way. So getting into Tijuana was actually easier than all the other times I have gone because there are fewer visitors. Jumped into an Uber and I asked the driver about how the virus was affecting Tijuana. He said he didn't know a single person that has had it and as I looked around things seemed pretty much normal with the exception of people wearing face coverings. For sure there are businesses shut down and the larger hotels were closed but really no different than what's going on here in SoCal. Reentering the US was also a breeze. The two normal questions always asked, "Where are you going? and Do you have anything to declare?" and that was it. No dentist story, no questions about the purpose of my visit either coming or going. Total time to reenter the US was 15 minutes. So if your freaked out about the pandemic in Tijuana don't be.
